Northbound traffic on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard is backing up quickly.

Original story: Tampa Fire Rescue is on the scene of a crash that took place around 11 a.m. on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard underneath the Interstate 75 overpass.

Multiple units are on scene and more are on the way, a Tampa Fire Rescue media release said.

“There is one patient that required extrication and Tampa Fire Rescue crews have carefully executed this rescue; the patient is now extricated and is being evaluated and treated by Tampa Fire Rescue Medics who are requesting emergency air lift to a local hospital,” the release said.

Officials anticipate traffic in the area will be impacted for some time.
