Florida May Decide the Election – No Kidding

Here's why Florida is key for the presidential candidates to win.

First Read notes that while it's possible for Romney to get to 270 electoral votes without Florida, it's extremely unlikely:  "If Obama were to win Florida, Romney would need to win CO, IA, NV, NH, NC VA, and WI. In other words, he'd have to run the table."

Medicare Is Key Issue in Retiree-Rich Florida

As Mitt Romney heads to Florida on a campaign stop – without running mate Paul Ryan – the Obama campaign greets him with a new video attacking the GOP ticket on their approach to Medicare. The tagline: "Romney-Ryan ending Medicare as we know it."

Chris Christie to Give Keynote at RNC

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is giving the keynote address at the Republicans' national convention later this month. Republican officials directly involved in the planning say Christie will speak during the confab in Tampa. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because the formal announcement was not planned until later today.

Christie, a first-term governor known for his blunt and sometimes acerbic tone, is already a favorite among fiscal conservatives in the party. Some urged him to seek the presidential nomination. He declined and endorsed Romney.

Lackluster Primary via The Associated Press

"Unlike two years ago, when there were competitive primaries to pick Republican nominees for governor and attorney general and Democratic primaries for attorney general and U.S. Senate, there's only one statewide race on the ballot and even that's not stirring up excitement.

"The race to see which Republican will face Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson seems to be all but forgotten after four major candidates, including former Sen. George LeMieux, dropped out. That leaves Rep. Connie Mack IV as the heavy favorite against former Rep. Dave Weldon, who doesn't have statewide name recognition or the money to effectively reach voters."

More $$ = More Voter Confusion

Aaron DeSlatte's three predictions: 2012 will break records for the amount of cash Florida corporations and interests will pour into campaigns for state offices. Elections get more expensive every cycle, advertising costs go up and the armies of high-priced political consultants always get bigger. ... Despite all the money thrown into influencing your votes, we will be more thoroughly confused than ever. ... No matter what marginal changes are made to the Florida Legislature, there will be very little policymakers can do to affect the economy.

Maybe Paul Ryan's record will matter too.

http://www.rlc.org/2012/08/11/the-paul-ryan-record/

Wait, so if the Tea Party is against this sort of a thing, and Ryan votes for exactly what they hate, why do they hate Obama for doing so, but are energized by Ryan having done the very same?

Could it be racism? Coincidence? Something else?

NO---NO, Don't bring up the Ryan/Romney record(at least what they will talk about)as it's just not fair to ask them to respond to questions on Taxes ,Baine, Olympics, Mormonism, anything on his health care program in Mass., horses, dogs on the roof, and lieing about the President. Ryans claim to fame is passing two(2)bills in 13years! One changed the name on a post office, and the other(a loud drum roll) a bill to give him a tax break on his archery arrows. He does have a discredited budget bill that depends on throwing hungry folks off food stamps, poor people out of medical treatment options, old people off soc.sec. not to forget he wants to make choice the law of the land, HIS CHOICE!!! and did you know!*%#&^*That Obama's NOT---NOT an old white rich guy OMG

With regard to the Tea Party/racism comment: If Obama were 100% Caucasian, instead of 50% Caucasion, the response would be the same. The position of the Tea Party is based on a small government ideology. Throwing race into it, stirs emotions, obfuscates the real issues, and causes division. I suggest that as a country, we place a moratorium on bringing up race as a factor in any debate. The overarching issue is what is the role of the federal government in the governance of this country and how much money are we willing to let them have to govern.

Red, wow, quite original thoughts you have there.

It's so sad how people simply parrot the talking points in this country, as if they matter. Dogs? Haircuts? Horses? Heck, even tax returns do not matter at all when the real issue is................both Mitt and Obama are one in the same. None of these so-called "Representatives" are statesman..........they are ALL empty suits, puppets.

The sooner all EXIT THE LEFT RIGHT PARADIGM, the sooner we can actually progress as a society. You are living in a fantasy world if you believe Govt is the answer to the problems, GOVT IS THE PROBLEM.

By the way Jan, what Tea Party do you refer to, the Fox News hijacked one?? Or the TRUE Tea Party that backs Liberty minded folks like Dr. Ron Paul??

Shripathi Kamath, you are exactly right. Ryan is being hailed as this "Fiscal Conservative," when he's the furthest you can be from being Conservative. He's voted for practically everything to expand the scope of Govt in our lives...........like every other politician who claims they are for us.
Keep reading those mags, papers and watch the television programming, the powers-that-be do not want you to become aware of the many evident truths.......remain in your Left/Right world.....let them divide and conquer.....it's only been occurring for centuries.

"If you don't read the newspaper, you are uninformed; if you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed."

OH MY GOD, I do hope Florida will decide the outcome of the election in
November. If that is held to be true, I will be as happy as I can be, knowing that my vote threw 0bozo out of the Whitehouse.

Well, a little over 11% showed up to vote in the Primaries yesterday in Pasco County. Gee, I guess the whole thing just is not that important that folks can't take 15 minutes out of their very productive and busy days or bother to fill out a mail in ballot and drop it in the post box. Change happens at the local level. Until corruption is routed out locally it really won't matter what happens in DC. So many can take the time to complain but won't even bother to cast a vote. Shame on you!
