Freedom High School students and staff took on Wharton High School students and staff in an energetic game of kickball Friday.

The event was held at Freedom.

"We've always had a rivalry with Freedom," said Barbara Woolley, student government sponsor and French teacher at Wharton. "But rivalries don't have to be mean. We're rivals for a good cause."

Funds raised from the event went to the winning team's American Cancer Society Relay for Life team. The host team turned out to be victorious, taking the match 5-4 in overtime.

It was not immediately clear how much money was raised from the event but admission was $3 and the stands were full.
