UPDATE: Bicyclist Struck By Car At I-75 and Bruce B. Downs Blvd.
The bicyclist has been identified as a man from Lutz.
Update 6:17 p.m. Sept 10: The bicyclist involved in the accident has been identified as Albert Sims Dyson, 67, of Tinker Drive in Lutz. He is listed in stable condition at Tampa General Hospital.
Update 2:20 p.m. Sept. 10: North and southbound lanes of Bruce B. Downs are now open, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Earlier:
A vehicle struck and injured a person on a bicycle near I-75 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. The crash happened between Commerce Palms Boulevard and the Interstate 75 South entrance ramp, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Officials say that 23-year-old Stephanie Miller of St. Petersburg applied her brakes but was unable to avoide hitting the 67-year-old bicyclist who was in the road. The rider has life threatening injuries, and was flown by helicopter to a local hospital.

Both lanes of I-75 were closed intermittently while the helicopter was flown in to transport the rider to a nearby hospital, police said. Nothbound lanes of Bruce B. Downs Blvd., are now open. One southbound lane is open at this time between I-75 and Tampa Way, officials say.
The investigation is ongoing, but police say at this time it appears that the driver is not at fault.
