Police Searching for New Tampa Bank Robbery Suspect

Businesses are asked to keep an eye out for bills stained with red dye.

The Tampa Police Department is asking for help in identifying the man they say robbed a New Tampa bank Thursday.

According to a TPD media release,  the suspect entered Pilot Bank, 7635 N. Bruce B. Downs Blvd., at about 3 p.m. Jan. 24 and demanded money at gunpoint.

The teller gave him money and a dye pack, according to TPD, and detectives believe the money will be stained red from the dye.

Business owners are asked to keep an eye out for bills that have red dye stains.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens to early 20s, between 5'3 and 5'4. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask with mesh on the bottom around the mouth and a "soft, sock-type top," long black pants (not jeans) and a long-sleeved black shirt with a hood.

Anyone with information is asked to to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
