When it comes to grocery shopping, everyone seems to have a strong preference. Some go where the prices are the lowest, while others go where customer service is king.
Residents in the New Tampa area have the option of loading up their carts at the four chains that own the biggest share of the market pie: Publix, Walmart, Winn-Dixie (just outside of New Tampa on Bearss Avenue) and Sweetbay — in that order, according to a July article in the Tampa Bay Times.
So, New Tampa readers, do you buy Publix BOGOs by the cartful? Or do you feel like you win at Winn-Dixie?

There is no Winn Dixie in New Tampa!!!!! Winn Dixie closed years ago to make room for a church.

Yes, that's why I was careful to use the phrase the "greater New Tampa area" underneath the headline. The Winn-Dixie Bearss location is included in the New Tampa Patch business directory, whose boundaries extend a bit beyond New Tampa. Thanks for writing!

There's a Winn Dixie in Lutz...not too far away. There's also a WD in North Tampa on Bearss Ave, which to me is close (to work, anyway). Aaaanyhow, I like all of the above grocery stores, but my personal favorite is -- Winn Dixie!
How can I pick WD over Publix, when Publix is clearly the fancier store with the better choices? Well, without sounding too much like a commercial, you can earn money off your gas fill-ups by earning rewards from Winn-Dixie. This is my favorite perk by far...and if it means I'm limited to fewer grocery choices, then so be it. The day WD stops offering fuel perks is the day I go back to Publix. :)
