Storefronts: HomeGoods to Open, Urban Culinary Cuisine Explains Closure

Business briefs.

1.) Ever wonder what happened to Urban Culinary Cuisine on Cross Creek Boulevard? We did, too.

We emailed the former owners awhile back and recently got a response. Here’s what Rose Saxton wrote when we asked about the closure:

It has always been my plan to get the Chef out of the kitchen more and promoting good health - through healthy foods, healthy cooking techniques and healthy relationships. His "Chef's Lectures Series" promotes various aspects of good health by creating a healthy foundation for life thru healthy foods and healthy relationships.

It would've been great to keep the cafe open while he travels and conducts his workshops. However, due to significantly increased costs and the lack of a competent workforce, it became clear to close the cafe and concentrate solely on his lecture/workshops. He is also completing a cookbook of his famous recipes from the cafe. I'll let you know when it becomes available.

2.) A sign is announcing that Home Goods is on its way to Highwoods Preserve Parkway. Are you a fan of the chain store?

I'd never heard of HomeGoods, but their website looks pretty nice. I think they could work out well in this area.

I LOVE Homegoods! I venture to the store in Carrollwood to check out what they have new in the gourmet food section and to peruse their seasonal items. When I am looking for a piece of furniture or accessory to finish a room, it is the first place I go to!! I am really happy they are coming to my neighborhood!!

Yes, there is a Home Goods in Brandon. Home Goods is a great store to shop for accessories big and small.

"However, due to significantly increased costs and the lack of a competent workforce, it became clear to close the cafe..." No, it was filthy and unsanitary.

Cafe Ole is NOT Urban Culinary Cuisine!! Chelsea, it would be prudent for you to get your facts correct before you post. Shakesphere said something similar to, "If ye thinks she is a fool, it's better she be silent than to speak and erase all doubt."

Chelsea, Cafe Ole is in the same plaza where Urban Culinary Cuisine existed, but it is a different business.
