WASHINGTON (CNN) – A new report from American University’s Center for the Study of the American Electorate concludes that voter turnout in Tuesday’s election was the same in percentage terms as it was four years ago - or at most has risen by less than 1 percent.

The report released Thursday estimates that between 126.5 and 128.5 million Americans cast ballots in the presidential election earlier this week. Those figures represent 60.7 percent or, at most, 61.7 percent of those eligible to vote in the country.

“A downturn in the number and percentage of Republican voters going to the polls seemed to be the primary explanation for the lower than predicted turnout,” the report said. Compared to 2004, Republican turnout declined by 1.3 percentage points to 28.7 percent, while Democratic turnout increased by 2.6 points from 28.7 percent in 2004 to 31.3 percent in 2008.

Of course he is out of touch with our problems, and so is Romney. Neither of them has a clue what it's like to try to feed a family of four on $50 a week. I think they are both typical lying politicians, and whichever one I end up voting for in November will hopefully be the (slightly) lesser of two evils. I also think that choosing to call anyone with an opposing viewpoint a moron is childish and intolerant.

IT"S THE ECONOMY STUPID! Obama has complete disdain for American exceptionalism and the capitalist system that made this country great. I don't care whether you drink beer or cognac, you had better have an idea of how the economy works if you are going to be the leader of the free world. It is patently obvious to anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of economics that you cannot drive energy prices through the roof, spend and print so much money that the dollar isn't worth a dime, and use a trillion dollars of taxpayer bailout/stimulus money as a personal slush fund for the benefit of political bundlers and union thugs. Obama is certainly "in touch" with some very dangerous people. If you are a young person (30 or younger) you should be outraged at what this administration is doing to the future of this great nation and the bill that is going to come due in your lifetime. This man and his administration are a DANGER, whether they are in touch with the common man or not. They certainly know how to exploit, indoctrinate, obfuscate, and propagandize toward the great unwashed masses.
