Kids Behaving Badly at Restaurants, What Should Happen?

A sign at a Tampa area pizza restaurant warns parents they'll be asked to leave if their kids act up. What's your take?

When kids misbehave at a restaurant, should the parents be kicked out? That's the debate that's followed a recent Seminole Heights Patch story on a controversial sign placed at an area pizza restaurant. Local residents have been divided over Cappy's Pizzeria's stance on kids acting up at the North Florida Avenue restaurant, where a sign reads, "Parents, for the safety and comfort of everyone, if you allow your child to run, scream, or misbehave, parties will be asked to leave.” We're wondering what Westchase Patch readers think. Our neighborhood is home to several pizzerias and other restaurants that families frequent. Do you think more restaurants should adopt this rule? Or is Cappy's out of line? Patch reader Kay applauded the move, …

I totally agree. When my child was small I would have never continued to stay in a restaurant with her screaming. People pay a lot of money to eat out and no one has the right to subject other patrons to their misbehaving or squalling children. I would patronize establishments more often that posted a sign warning parents. If their child throws a fit, it doesn't mean they are bad parents. …   more ›

Saks, Other Outlet Stores Coming to Wesley Chapel

The developer intends to open in 2014.

Outlet mall lovers will soon have a new destination to flock to if the Simon Property Group’s plan to develop in Wesley Chapel comes to pass. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Simon, the owner of Manatee County’s Ellenton Premium Outlets, has been signing up stores for the Wesley Chapel mall’s 2014 opening. Saks Off Fifth is reportedly onboard as the anchor. Do you think central Pasco and northern Hillsborough need their own outlet mall? Let us know in the comments section. Simon’s interest in the embattled Cypress Creek Town Center site came to light in February. The 140-acre site, which is owned by the Richard E. Jacobs Group, had stood at the center of an environmental controversy since its owners received permitting to build the …

Should Hillsborough Trade Cruise Ships for the Rays?

A county commissioner has floated an idea that could benefit both Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, according to the Tampa Bay Times: Send the Rays across the bay in return for Tampa's cruise ship business.

Here's an interesting plot twist in the ongoing conversation about where the Tampa Bay Rays' next home should be. Hillsborough County Commissioner Victor Crist threw out this idea, according to the Tampa Bay Times: Send the Rays to Hillsborough County in exchange for Tampa's cruise ship business. According to the Times, the newest cruise megaships are too large to squeeze under the Sunshine Skyway bridge. Hillsborough County is trying to figure out how to accommodate them, possibly with a new terminal outside Tampa. Meanwhile, the Rays have proposed to move out of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, where they are currently contractually obligated to play through 2027. As reported in the Times, a coalition on the issue explored moving the …

I would be a season ticket holder in a heartbeat if I didn't have to drive all the way to St. Petersburg. I'm a huge Rays fan, but I can't make it to as many games as I would like because of the distance.   more ›

A campaign is afoot to take the honor away from three-time champ Asheville, NC.

Has Tampa Bay’s craft beer scene developed enough to earn it national accolades? Gerard Walen thinks so. The editor of BeerInFlorida.com is so confident Tampa has earned its stripes he’s launched a social media campaign to help the Bay area take the BeerCity USA title away from three-time champ Asheville, NC. What do you think about Tampa Bay's craft beer scene? Let us know in the comments section. “The Tampa Bay area’s craft beer scene has exploded in the past few years while under the radar of the rest of the country,” Walen explained. “Most people I talk to at beer festivals and other events have at least heard of Tampa’s Cigar City Brewery because of its reputation, but many are surprised when I start ticking off the list of other …
