Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes
4202 E Fowler Ave, Tampa, FL | Get Directions »
$25.00
Walking is one of the easiest, most relaxing forms of exercise for many people, but especially for those living with diabetes. Walking helps control blood glucose levels in people with diabetes and improves overall quality of life. It is also an activity that can help prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes in people at risk.
Participants should enter University of South Florida from Fowler Avenue via Leroy Collins Blvd. and park in the Collins Garage located on the right. Registration opens at 8am and the Opening Cermeony begins at 9am. Thanks to our breakfast donors - Columbia Restaurant (coffee), Sara Lee (bagels/breakfast breads), Sam's Club Market 59 (fruit) and Pepsico (beverages)!!! We have lots of great activities for the kids this year. Mad Science will be teaching them to make slime, carnival style games, face painters, balloon twisters, temporary tattoos, arts & crafts, photo opportunities with Captain Fear and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders and much more. After the walk head back to the Marshall Center Plaza to visit the Health & Wellness Zone, listen to the music from our awesome DJ and perhaps enjoy a complimentary massage.
