As week two of the new school year gets under way, teachers across the state and nation are coming together to voice concerns about the  tougher Common Core standards being adopted by states across the country.

Calling themselves the Badass Teachers Association, the group wants schools to slow down on adoption of the new rules and fears too much testing will diminish creativity. Drier Weather on the Way—Sort Of

Ready to dry out after all the recent storms? You might be in luck, but don’t count on avoiding rain all together. Forecasters anticipate rain chances of about 30 percent in the afternoon and evening hours today, Aug. 27. On the upside, the torrential, widespread showers we’ve experienced recently are not on tap as drier air moves into the region.
