'Sunday in the Park' Kicks Off Holiday Season

Santa and Mrs. Claus greeted children at the Temple Terrace Garden Club's annual event, and vendors and civic groups connected with the community.

Woodmont Park popped with red poinsettias over the weekend during the Temple Terrace Garden Club's Sunday in the Park.

The eighth annual event found the park decorated with gingerbread figures, wrapped presents, and tinseled Christmas trees.

There were vendors selling plants, carpets and soaps, as well as civic groups handing out their brochures and swag. A tool sharpener even filed garden tools.

The highlight of the event each year is the arrival of Santa Claus on a Temple Terrace fire truck. He and Mrs. Claus greeted children, who told St. Nick what they wanted for Christmas.

Stacey Lowery of Canoe Escape in Thonotosassa has been a vendor at the event for three years.
