Friday
- "Wishes Fill Dishes:" Hey, Santa isn't just about bringing kids presents. Hillsborough County Animal Services, 440 N. Falkenburg Road in Tampa, will host an event to help needy pets in shelters. Bring a canned dog food item and for the price of admission, all sorts of puppies and kittens will have a comfortable holiday season. Adopt a pet and the shelter will take a family photo, together with your newest family member, for free. The fun begins at 9 a.m. Cost: $5.
Saturday
- Free Children's Storytelling: Youngsters can hear storytelling at the Book Swap of New Tampa, 1946 Bruce B. Downs Blvd beginning at 9:30 a.m. Arts, crafts and refreshments will be free as well.
- New Tampa Little League registration: Registration continues for youngsters wanting to play in the New Tampa Little League system in 2012. Cost of registration ranges from $100-$160 depending on the league and age of the player. Prospective players must bring three forms of proof of residency.
- Holidays with Horses is a unique way to enjoy the holiday season with the family. For either $5 or $10, Equestrian Inc., a nonprofit
horse rescue farm, will give family members a ride in the country with ponies or adult horses through farms decorated for Christmas. Later, riders can spend quality time with the horses in a holiday decorated barn and sip apple cider. Reservations are requested.

- Bring toys, get a free wellness exam: Dr. Jonathan Berns, the proprietor of the chiropractic practice of LifeSource Health and Wellness, 1722 Bruce B Downs Blvd, has a way for locals to help needy children and in turn, themselves. For every $20 worth of new toys brought to the center Sunday, Dr. Berns will offer a free wellness exam.
