104-Bed Assisted Living Facility Coming to New Tampa

Ground is expected to break in February on The Legacy at Highwoods Preserve.

As Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel prepares to soon open, another health care facility is in the works a few miles south on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

Ground is expected to break February on a 104-bed “assisted living and memory care center” called The Legacy at Highwoods Preserve, which will sit on Highwoods Preserve Parkway near Brinegar Circle.

PinPoint Commercial, LP, and Thrive Senior Living, LLC are the developers for the project, and could not immediately be reached for comment. But according to a news release, New Tampa was chosen following much legwork.

“We studied over 300 submarkets in every state in the southeast US,” stated Charles Turner, principal with PinPoint Commercial. “After months of exhaustive travel and extensive research, we believe that the New Tampa area is one of the most underserved markets that we have found to date. We can’t wait to get started.”

The Legacy at Highwoods Preserve — near I-75 — is said to be “elegant” with the most up-to-date monitoring and patient-alert technology. It is part of a slew of similar projects by PinPoint and Thrive slated for the Sunshine State as well as Texas and Louisiana.

Each wing of the building serves as a different “neighborhood” with individual common areas.

“However, the facility will also be designed around a central ‘Main Street’ with amenities such as a restaurant, movie theater, store, spa, gym and sports bar,” according to the news release. “The design philosophy is to give residents as much freedom and choice as possible by allowing them to gravitate toward those areas that interest them most.”

Project completion will be sometime in late 2013.
