Burger 21 New Tampa Opens Today

The eatery is at Trout Creek Commons, Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Trout Creek Drive.

Hamburger fans, rejoice.

Burger 21, a “fast-casual, chef-inspired” burger and shake chain, opened today (Sept. 10) in New Tampa.

The restaurant at 20304 Trout Creek Drive is the fourth company-owned location in the Tampa Bay Area.

“Our concept’s success in Westchase, Carrollwood and Lakeland has exceeded expectations and we’re excited to bring our crafted burgers and shakes to New Tampa as we expand in the Tampa Bay area and beyond," Mark Johnston — Burger 21 president and chief concept officer and president of Front Burner Brands, restaurant management company for Burger 21 — said in a statement. "We’re confident that New Tampa will embrace Burger 21 and its premium ingredients, innovative recipes and gourmet experience without the gourmet price."

The 2,664-square-foot eatery seats 88 customers and has a staff of 55.

Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.

I was one of the people attending this weekend's 'sneak preview' invitation event. The food and the atmosphere is definitely a cut above a typical burger chain. Also, if burgers aren't your thing, they have fish, chicken, turkey, and veggie entrees as well. The prices are comparable to Ruby Tuesday's, maybe a little bit cheaper overall. And the ingredients are definitely better than ones used at your typical fast-food chain. Also, I found the atmosphere to be really nice, which was a plus. A lot of places are so noisy that you can't even have a yelling conversation with people at your table, but I found it to be quieter than PDQ's or Five Guys. Overall experience...this place tries to be better than what's at the bottom of the barrel, and it shows. It's a step up, like Chipotle or Moe's tries to be a step up from Taco Bell. It's definitely worth a trip. Oh, and they have great french fries, too.
