Eat Ice Cream, Help Child Who Needs Hearing Device

Bruster's will donate a portion of proceeds to help 3-year-old Javon Morgan, a boy with Down syndrome who is in need of a special hearing device.

Here is a "sweet" way to help a local child.

If you purchase ice cream from Bruster's between today (Oct. 12) and Sunday (Oct. 21), a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Javon Morgan. The 3-year-old was born 8 weeks early.

"Javon was diagnosed with Down syndrome and since his birth he has had 7 surgeries, 3 of which were on his ears," according to a flier from his mother, Tamara Pemberton. "He has a persistent conductive hearing loss and is in need of a BAHA hearing device."

BAHA stands for a bone-anchored hearing device, which can be quite costly.

A kick-off party will be held today (Oct. 12) from 6 to 9 p.m.
