Taste of New Tampa Event Relocated to Wharton High School

The 19th annual festival was originally slated for The Shops at Wiregrass.

The 19th annual Taste of New Tampa festival will be held in a different location.

Instead of The Shops at Wiregrass, will be the site for the community food event.

Organizers posted a Facebook message last night about the change, saying it was “due to logistics restrictions” at Wiregrass.

The event, also called the New Tampa Business and Health Expo, will be held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 11 and is expected to draw thousands of people, all of whom will have a chance to samples dishes from area restaurantes, cafes and dessert shops. There will also be vendors selling crafts as well as live entertainment.

Taste of New Tampa is the main membership drive of the New Tampa Chamber of Commerce. It raises money for community projects, too.

“Proceeds will benefit chamber projects to promote businesses in the New Tampa area and non-profit organizations, such as PTAs and boy scout troops who help make this event possible every year,” according to www.tasteofnewtampa.info.

A wristband is required for access to the event. Wristbands are $15, and children 10 or younger are free with a paid adult. Wristbands purchased prior to the event will receive a discount, though organizers could not immediately say what the discount will be.
