Tijuana Flats to Open Aug. 15 in New Tampa

Opening date is earlier than previously reported.

Take note, Tex-Mex lovers.

Chain eatery Tijuana Flats will open its New Tampa location at 17501 Preserve Walk Lane on Aug. 15.

The 2,400-square-foot restaurant - at the former site of a Shane's Rib Shack - will have room for 80 guests inside, 16 outside. It will have the look and feel of its dozens of other locations, according to the company.

Things seem to be ahead of schedule. A director of development for the chain told Patch in June that the New Tampa store would not be ready until later this year.

"Tijuana Flats knows about its brightly colored wall murals," a news release about the store opening reads. "The mural at this location is no exception, portraying a viking warrior as he engages in battle."
