University Area CDC Hosting Complimentary VetReady Resource and Career Fair

he University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc. (UACDC) is hosting the VetReady ‘Support Our Troops Resource and Career Fair’ this Friday, July 18 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the UACDC gymnasium, located at 14013 N. 22nd Street in Tampa.

According to recent reports, an increasing number of civilian employers are becoming more aware of the unique strengths former military personnel can bring to a civilian position, including loyalty, a focus on mission achievement and comprehensive communication skills.

“The UACDC is extremely proud of the opportunity to host VetReady’s Resource and Career Fair,” said UACDC Economic Development Coordinator, Ian McDermott. “Not only is this event beneficial to those attending, but it is also an opportunity to introduce the military community to the numerous amenities available to them at the UACDC.”

VetReady Resource and Career Fairs are designed for officers and enlisted personnel leaving the service and veterans who have already transitioned out of the service and are seeking a career change, as well as military spouses. By assisting with this transition into the civilian workforce, VetReady matches skills and career goals with the state’s veteran-friendly businesses.

To ensure attendees are prepared to meet with prospective employers, both trained assistants and experienced hiring managers will be on hand in the UACDC computer lab to aid with resume preparation and review. There is no cost to attend.
