The adventures of a New Tampa socialite ...

Welcome New Tampa, socialites.

My name is Cassandra Hastu and I am officially one of you. I have created this blog to create unity within New Tampanians. At the age of 25, I have decided to take advantage of my youth and explore my surroundings. What I have found is a great community within New Tampa; a community that is dedicated to having fun and growing together.

As I travel from restaurant to bar to club to social event, I intend to bring you with me. I look at New Tampa as a rose garden. What was once a muddy, swampy, dirt-filled plot of land is now a beautiful example of growth and prosperity. There is no lack of diversity in New Tampa. What is even more exciting is you never know what new venue or social outing is lurking behind the corner.

Being born in the Bronx, New York and raised in Toronto, Canada, I can say I am accustomed to the fast city life. New Tampa was a change for me, and I can honestly say I expected things to be a bit slower and maybe even behind when it comes to fashion and night life.

Instead, I have found that I am trying to keep up with the fast-paced growth of Tampa. Here in Tampa I am back in school at HCC after a 5-year hiatus. I intern part-time on a CBS Radio sports show (I need my Rays and Bucs fix!). I also bar-tend on the weekends so I am merciless when reporting on my bar experiences.

Keeping busy and motivated is hard in our economy, especially Florida, but I keep a positive attitude and keep pushing. In the intelligent words of "Pink," the main character in "Dazed and Confused," "Well, all I am saying is that I want to look back and say that I did the best that I could while I was stuck in this place. Had as much fun as I could while I was stuck in this place. Played as hard as I could while I was stuck in this place."

I hope you keep a reading and enjoy the ride.
