Boil No More, New Tampa

The precautionary boil water notice has been lifted.

 

The precautionary boil water notice for City of Tampa water customers affected by the transmission break on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard has been lifted.

The Tampa Water Department says test results returned over two consecutive days confirm that water being provided to affected customers is safe to drink.

“The City of Tampa sincerely appreciates all customers' patience as we worked
to fully restore water service,” the department said in a release.

Water service was restored this weekend to all customers affected by .

Residents north of Fowler Avenue and other customers who experienced a loss of pressure or service interruption were asked to begin boiling their water on Friday. The precaution applied to all water used for drinking and cooking until bacteriological testing had been completed.

The interruption in water service had an impact on local businesses, who had to use bottled water and disable ice machines and water fountains.

Customers looking for a caffeine buzz were disappointed to find a sign on the window of the local saying they would be closed until further notice, while the shut down early Saturday. On Friday, Skipper's Smokehouse canceled its evening show entirely.
