Precision Kia pitched in to help get reading material into the hands of local veterans.
The Wesley Chapel dealership’s employees and customers donated more than 1,200 books this year for the Books For Troops program.
“We have such a great relationship with the team at Precision Kia and the extra hands lighten the load,” Patricia Murphy, executive director of the collection program, said in a news release.
Between Kia and other drop-off points, Books for Troops collected 7,774 books. Instrumental, too, Murphy said, was the Meadow Pointe subdivision, which held a benefit Nov. 17 with children’s musician Mr. Tommy.
According to Books for Troops, most books will go to either the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital or the Bay Pines Veterans Hospital.
Want to pitch in? Murphy said funds are still needed to ship 311 boxes of books. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
