Haley Hospital Expansion Benefits Region's Veterans

The Primary Care Annex is scheduled to open in February 2014.

With a ceremonial shoveling of dirt, ground broke on a project that will have a major impact on veterans' health care.

The James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and developer and general contractor Duke Realty held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday (Nov. 16) for the medical facility's new primary care annex.

The 106,000-square-foot annex at Fletcher Avenue and Interstate 75 will take about 15 months to build. Officials say it will allow the hospital to assist some 87,000 vets in Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk and Hernando counties — making it a major regional asset.
