With a ceremonial shoveling of dirt, ground broke on a project that will have a major impact on veterans' health care.
The James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and developer and general contractor Duke Realty held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday (Nov. 16) for the medical facility's new primary care annex.
The 106,000-square-foot annex at Fletcher Avenue and Interstate 75 will take about 15 months to build. Officials say it will allow the hospital to assist some 87,000 vets in Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk and Hernando counties — making it a major regional asset.
"In addition to primary care services, the two-story facility will offer women's wellness, radiology, mental health and dental services," officials said in a news release earlier this week.
