Ice Skating Near New Tampa

We don't live in the North, but you can still lace up your skates.

If you’re looking for a white Christmas, Florida is not the place to be, obviously.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy other Northern staples of the holiday season such as ice skating.

Here are three places nearby where you can pretend you’re at the world-famous Rockefeller Center ice rink in New York City, if you want:

Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park ice rink, downtown Tampa

  • Running through Jan. 5, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park at 600 N. Ashley Dr. has morphed into a winter wonderland, complete with ice rink. With some exceptions for holidays, the rink is open every day: Monday through Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. Check ou www.tampasdowntownonice.com for more information.

Ice Sports Forum, Brandon

  • The official training facility of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the ice-plex boasts two NHL regulation size rinks. There is public skating on select days and times. Check the website's calendar for details.
