Labor Day Weekend: Things to Do In, Around New Tampa

A roundup of what's going on.

 

1. All-American Festival at The Shops at Wiregrass (Aug. 30-Sept. 3). Various activities have been planned for this celebration, including concert performances from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and kids entertainment from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. There are also special discounts and Saturday's daytime Fresh Market. Cost: free. Where: The Shops at Wiregrass, Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Route 56.

2. New Tampa Pokemon League Meeting (Saturday, Sept. 1). Want to get together with fellow Pokemon fans? Bring your playing cards and Nintendo DS. Cost: free. Where: New Tampa Regional Library, 10001 Cross Creek Blvd. When: 10 a.m.

3. Chris McCarty at Skipper's Smokehouse (Friday, Aug. 31). The Gainesville-based musician will take the stage to perform his brand of acoustic pop. Blues/rock act Wester Joseph's Stereo Vudu is also on the bill. Cost: $10 advance, $13 at the door. Where: Skipper's Smokehouse, Skipper Road and Nebraska Avenue. When: 8 p.m.
