A New Tampa father died saving his little boy.
Richard Kerr, 40, was in Daytona Beach on Monday when 4-year-old son Joseph got caught in a riptide, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Kerr had his son ride his back for awhile until rescuers helped them to shore.
CPR could not save Kerr, but Joseph reportedly had little more than a scratch on his arm.
John and I are so deeply sorry for your loss. We loved Richie and Rascal did too. He always smiled and had nothing but good words to say. An upstanding gentleman and friend. He was always ready to come to our rescue when we needed him and always with a smile. We know how much he adored you and your boyz....we remember the time when you all went to the nascar races in St. Petes...JT had a blast. Thanks for those memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you!!! We were so devastated by the news and I hope there is something we can do for you during this time. Richie....keep smiling...love always. RIP. - John & Carmela
