Tampa Bay Rebels Win Florida Basketball Association Championship

The minor league team defeated the Heartland Prowl Saturday night at home, the Freedom High School court.

 

New Tampa is home to a winning team.

The Tampa Bay Rebels won the 2012 Florida Basketball Association Championship Saturday by defeating the Heartland Prowl 131-106. The first half ended with the Rebels 58 and Prowl 51. But the Rebels had a great third quarter, scoring 43 points and securing the win for the home team.

The Rebels, a minor league basketball team that uses Freedom High School's court as its home base, plays in the fledgling FBA.

  • Forward Tim Ware - 36 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
  • Forward Shun Watson - 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
  • Center Matt Kendrick - 11 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks.

"The whole team is very happy with the outcome," Rojas said via email.
