From great schools to safe neighborhoods, New Tampa has lots of positive things going for it.

But as anyone with a driver's license knows, congestion-free roads is most certainly not on that list. Traveling the short distance from the Interstate 75 overpass to the Muvico can mean a painful exercise in patience along Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

For New Tampa residents, it seems that traffic congestion is a way of life. And those orange construction cones? They are like trees — a permanent piece of the landscape, right?

Of course, all of these traffic backups serve a greater purpose. Both I-75 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard are in the midst of two separate widening projects that, when completed, will be a major asset and will be able to accommodate the population boom the region has experienced in recent years.
