E-books seem to be the new craze. Many of my students use them in addition to the iPad.
My thought? I love it for them! I love the features that many of the e-books have. The capability to highlight the text, instantly find the definition of a challenging word, saving a page without having to fumble for a bookmark are all benefits that I notice my students taking advantage of.

But I am old-fashioned when it comes to personal use. I need the intimacy of curling up in bed with my book. I love the way the pages feel as I turn them, I love the Cheetos stain that I sometimes leave on the pages. I like the used look of a book when I have finished reading it.
Someone gave me a Nook as a Christmas gift. I use it, I like it, but I always gravitate to the old-fashioned print book.

You will be able to find current research that both supports and negates the usefulness of e-books. In the end I feel that if a child is reading, no matter what form the text comes in, let them read.
