Update: Driver Identified in Fatal I-75 Crash

The accident occurred just south of the Pasco County line just after noon today, Sept. 22.

Update 9:35 a.m. Sept. 23: The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the driver in yesterday's crash as Hilda Yamilet Suarez, 24, of Tampa.

A Tampa woman is dead following a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 that took place early this afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 24-year-old woman was heading southbound on I-75 just south of the Pasco County line when a tire blew out on her 1996 Chevy Blazer. The woman lost control of the Blazer and it traveled across the paved shoulder of the roadway, into the grass and then into the tree line. The vehicle then collided with two trees.

The woman died at the scene, a highway patrol media release said.

The woman’s name is not being released at this time and the accident remains under investigation.
