A Christmas Eve burglar hoping to strike the Bank of Tampa on Amberly Drive left empty-handed, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Just before 4 a.m. today, Dec. 24, an intrusion alarm went off at the 15302 Amberly Drive bank, a media release said. When police arrived, they found the lobby window broken but no one inside. Surveillance video later revealed that a suspect entered the bank and then exited quickly without stealing anything.
A gold-colored Saturn, possibly a 2006 Ion, was spotted in the teller lane around the same time, the release said. The car is thought to be connected with the crime.
The suspect is described as a black male between the age of 17 and 25. He is of thin build and is between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches in height. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with writing on the front, dark pants and was carrying a dark backpack.
