Fire Closes Bruno's Pizza Pie

The 2301 E. Fletcher Ave. eatery caught fire Wednesday morning.

A fire in a rear storage area at Bruno’s Pizza Pie has left the Fletcher Avenue eatery closed until further notice.

The fire broke out late Wednesday morning, and was concentrated to a storage area in the rear of the 2301 E. Fletcher Ave. building, according to a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue media release.

“Hillsborough County firefighters made a quick interior attack to extinguish the flames,” the release stated.

Since the restaurant is designed for carry out and pick up only, no customers were there when the fire broke out, according to the release.

It is unclear at this time how the fire broke out, but the release did state that the building’s roof, air conditioning and exhaust systems were recently repaired by an independent contractor.

The restaurant will remain closed until a state inspection can be performed, according to the release.

The fire closed 23rd Street between Fletcher Avenue and 133rd Street in the early afternoon Wednesday, but the roadway is now open.
