Wharton Alum Assigned to NFL Jaguars Practice Squad

The 2006 Wharton High School graduate was gunning for a spot on the final roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Joshua Jones, a 2006 Wharton High School graduate, has been gunning for a final roster spot on the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was recently assigned to the NFL team's practice squad, however.

"Happy to say I'm still a #Jag practice squad is a win coming from the road I traveled. next goal: active roster," Jones wrote on his Twitter account Aug. 31.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker is a product of Elon University, where he is the program's fifth-leading tackler. Jones' father, James Jones, played for the Detroit Lions and later the Seattle Seahawks during the 1980s and early 1990s.
