New Tampa Boulevard Bridge: What People Are Saying

The bridge that connects Commerce Park Boulevard with New Tampa Boulevard has sparked conversation for and against the structure.

The New Tampa Boulevard Bridge opened Feb. 27, and New Tampa Patch's coverage of the ribbon cutting has sparked conversation.

Facebook fans have left comments both for and against the 0.7-mile bridge, which spans over Interstate 75 and connects Commerce Park Boulevard in Tampa Palms with New Tampa Boulevard in West Meadows.

According to Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, the bridge gives the residents of New Tampa traffic relief when combined with the widening along Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

Here's what New Tampa Patch Facebook fans have to say:

  • David Hadley I'm not sure where this bridge goes... looks like one side of New Tampa to the other. Maybe it's so that people can get to the schools?
  • Terry Walters Jr Glad it is finished and looking forward to being able to use it.
  • Christopher Curran Waste of money. Those areas are turning into the new suit case city.
  • Zoila Perez Bruce B Downs is the ONLY road there is in New Tampa. Any help with the traffic is appreciated by me.
  • John DiBias What were they thinking...now there will be tons of traffic in Tampa Palms...would hate to be on that 2 lane road.
